Poppy would like to praise the spirit of her small dog comrade and fellow biscuitlover, Gaby aka Gabriella Salinas Fernandez. This little dogfriend is a perky little SoCal girl, but she still has the Christmas spirit. Poppy will be working on her holiday spirit this weekend by choosing holiday card photos, until then, please to enjoy her stylish petfriend, Gaby.
Poppy Biscuits welcomes her new cousin, Greta VanCorgi-Pants, sister of Ella Beans the Corgi!! She is just a tiny Corgi pup right now, but soon she'll be jumping about swimming and running in circles!
Yesterday was the one year anniversary of her coming home to live in the ghetto with us. But...I had to do a bunch of crappy classwork, so we had her actual biscuit celebration for dinner tonight. She's a dog, her calendaring skills...well, she won't know.
The Brit and I made a trip to Tarjay and picked her up a smorgasbord of treats and biscuits. Here are the results...
(Also, for dinner she ate half a dill pickle, three stolen bites of spaghetti, a snootful of Strongbow, and a good attempt at a Hall's cherry menthol cough drop. Don't ask.)
YaY for little dogs!!
And last, but certainly not least, there is a bit of video where The Brit tries to steal the treats. RUDE!
Poppy got a new bed cover/duvet from Hayes Valley dog boutique, Babies. It is a beautiful blue "Perfect Afternoon" pattern from Molly Mutt and fits the bed she already had. She looks very sharp and clever lounging on it with lady friend Rosie O'Doggell. We are excited that molly Mutt has a "Stuff Sack" where you can stuff old fabric items to create a bed for your pet, then cover it with a duvet. Ecopuppychic!
Action Shots!
Then this morning I introduced the baby to a new leash bought at The Pet Bar on Thompson (SoHo) repping her 2/3 train MTA stop. At first she seemed interested, but then turned her back to it, indicating a nap in the sun would be more interesting.
Poppy would like to welcome her new pupfriend Pixie Delestrup. She is the pint-sized pup adopted by SF friends Sergio and Michael and is disturbingly cute. Poppy just loves it when she gets new small dog friends especially when she gets to share photos with them on facebook.
Poppy has asked me to jot down this note to you because she wants you to be strong this week. She knows what it's like to be the small stressed one in a group of complete nutbags and loudass touristas. She wants you to know that if you stay small and cute and more intelligent than everyone there you will persevere. She has also decided that if anyone can kick ass in a crunch it would be you. After being chased down by you on the Revson Lawn, she knows you are quick like fox and also precise in your fiendishness. These qualities will carry you far.
In closing, the little one has asked me to post this photo for you. It is to remind you that you will get to ferret around in fall leaves when you're done. That should help you whip up this paper wicked quick.
Poppy got some new stuff from Trixie & Peanut this past week and then did some posing. All in a day's work for a little dog... She got a lovely new pink and white plka dot jumper and a sweet new triple biscuit tag. So stylish!
Back before preseason baseball consumed our lives (We still love you Phillies! It was like watching the ewoks attempt to beat the financially unbeatable Empire in slow motion...), we took a nice walk about town.
Biscuits picked up a new red wool overcoat for formal events and the holidays and we had a lovely lunch at our favourite Italian restaurant on the corner of Camrine and Bleecker.... And took lots of puppy photos!
Good luck to one of Poppy's most favourite secondary caregivers, Auntie Helen. She has to face some fairly monolithic adversaries today, and Poppy Biscuits wants to show her a paw of support.
Here are some very cute photos taken in early October of the twosome watching a little afternoon delight, aka The Family Feud.
The title says it all...we'll write more about the stuff we love: CU minxes, Phillies to the World Series, new jumpers, squash...when we're done feeling crappy.
Poppdog went to get her first post-surgery grooming today at Biscuits & Bath. It has been 5 weeks, so she had started to look a tad feral. Then her friend Inna asked for some photos of the little scamp, and being a silly little ham, Poppy got right on it.
Posing...then editing...then playing with the Polaroid program ;)
Tuesday night.... Miss Biscuits does love her Phillies and her peanut butter.... Must keep that little dog/fox coat thick and glossy!
Wednesday... Poppy Biscuits has been really tentative about her puppy business with this drain in; It is really uncomfortable for her to squat, so...she basically holds it as long as possible and then when she can't hold it anymore...
Then we took the littlest dog/fox to get her drain out. She is sooooo not a fan of the vet. It was certainly a two person job. When she got back she was more than a little surly, so she ended up with her cone back on to cut down on biting. But it did make for some very cute sad puppy photos.
Thursday.... Today the primaries needed a day off...and so Auntie Helen came over to play office mum. She does her work and Poppy attempts to behave... Thanks Auntie Helen!
Later we removed the Fentanyl patch. That so did not go well. Someone has sharp little teeth.
Friday... Poppy was running dangerously low on pain meds and very high on the sharp little teeth, so another visit was paid to the vet. She got to stay at home with her cone on and nap.
So later with meds, the littlest scrapper finally got the thing she'd waited all week for: couch status!
So one week out from her third surgery, Miss Biscuits is getting stronger and moving along. Thanks to everyone who has left facebook comments, visited, texted, etc. She (and I) appreciate it!
Poppy Biscuits McKee is a small snow white shelter dog who just turned 7 years old. Her former owner was abusive and did not provide her socialization to other dogs or health care. This lack of care resulted in her first breast cancer surgery provided by the ASPCA in February 2008. She was abandoned and lived at the NYC ASPCA for almost 13 months.
Poppy was readopted (by me) from the ASPCA on 11/9/08 and found to have another tumor about 2 weeks later. She had her second surgery, a radical mastectomy, on 12/3/08. Most recently, the littlest dog/fox is the victim of yet a third lump and will have another radical mastectomy on 8/21/09. We have our paws crossed that this surgery will go well and that it will be her last.
When she's not in recovery, Poppy enjoys couching, napping, yapping, sitting on laps, eating stinky snacks and biscuits, walks in Central Park, and posing for many many photos.
Poppy's just a sweet little girl trying to make it in the Big Apple. We hope you enjoy her site.
